Information
The Merida Reacto has long set the benchmark for aero road bikes, blending cutting-edge aerodynamics with impressive rider comfort. Now in its fourth generation, the Reacto is faster, sleeker and more refined than ever. Wider tyres, cleaner cockpit cable integration and a series of carefully considered updates deliver meaningful performance gains without compromising ride quality.
At the highest level of Pro-Tour racing, every detail matters. Extensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was used to simulate performance in a virtual wind tunnel, allowing Merida’s engineers to focus on the changes that delivered the greatest aerodynamic benefits. These developments were then validated through wind tunnel testing to the strict German TOUR magazine protocol, including the demanding moving-leg dummy test.
The flagship Reacto CF5 requires just 209 watts to maintain 45 km/h — one watt faster than its predecessor — placing it among the most aerodynamic road bikes ever tested by TOUR magazine. Aerodynamic efficiency is further enhanced by details such as the integrated front disc cooler behind the fork, the rear brake calliper neatly housed within the rear triangle, and newly designed bolt-through axles with integrated threads to reduce drag.
Despite accommodating larger tyres for improved comfort and control, the Reacto more than offsets any aerodynamic compromises through a multitude of small refinements. The result is a perfectly balanced package of speed, comfort, low weight and striking design. Its performance credentials are backed up by numerous test wins and industry awards. Cycling Weekly called it “without doubt one of the most complete bikes available on the market”, Cyclingnews described it as “an utterly brilliant and faultless machine”, while Cycling Plus were “hugely impressed”.
All Reacto models are equipped with powerful hydraulic disc brakes. The flat-mount calipers are positioned on the chainstay for improved braking force distribution and a clean appearance, sitting atop CNC-machined aluminium Disc Cooler fins that reduce operating temperatures by up to 35%.
